Two Door Cinema Club Review

I have been really into indie pop music lately, which I had said in an earlier post. The group "Two Door Cinema Club," is definitely one of my favorites groups in that genre. I really appreciate how all of their songs are different in their sound and meaning. They have had a few hits on the radio but the most well known song is called "What You Know", which is from 2010. Their album Tourist History is actually from 2010 and is their 1st album out of 2, and it is truly an amazing album. One of my favorite songs from this album is "Come Back Home." The song basically is telling how a girl becomes successful and does things that is not who she is, but she still does it just for the publicity. The main singer is basically saying be who you are, and "come back home" to who you used to be as a person. I like this message and I think it appeals to a lot of people's lives and how they listen to other people's criticism and change who they are, and how they should never do that.

Jessie J "Sweet Talker" CD

This whole week I have been obsessed with Jessie J's new CD "Sweet Talker." I have always been a fan of hers, but I think this album is my favorite so far. I like the message in the song "Masterpiece." The song is basically saying if someone doesn't like you for what you are, who cares don't ever change who you are just because other people think you should.  One of my favorite lyrics in this song is, "I still fall on my face sometimes and I can't color inside the lines 'cause I'm perfectly incomplete." This is a good message because everyone has flaws, nobody is perfect and you just have to accept that.

"Ships in the Night" Review

For the past year, I have really enjoyed listening to indie pop music. The song “Ships in the Night” by Mat Kearney is one of my personal favorites. It has great beat and the lyrics are very original. One of my favorite lyrics is, “and if it all goes crashing into the sea if it’s just you and me trying to find the light.” I like this because he is comparing his relationship with this girl, to ships that keep passing by each other. This is showing how him and this girl are not seeing eye to eye and how difficult the relationship is, but how it is still worth saving. I think this is a good message on today’s divorce rate as well, because some people just give up on a relationship when things get tough, when they should really try to save it.

Maroon 5 "V" Review

Let me first start out by saying that I love Maroon 5's music, and that they are my favorite band. This is Maroon 5's 5th album and so far it is doing really well. This album really emphasizes how good Adam Levine's (the main singers) falsetto is and different ways he can use his voice. I personally enjoy the song's "New Love", "Feelings", "Unkiss me", and "My Heart Is Open." Both "New Love" and "Feelings" really show how good Adam's falsetto is, and how talented he is. In my opinion this album is way better then the band's last album "Overexposed." It focused more on the electronics rather then his voice, which I didn't like.

The song "Lost Stars" by just Adam Levine has amazing lyrics, and sorta reminds me of the band's older sound they used in their previous albums. I have to admit Maroon 5's album "Songs About Jane" is pure genius, but I think its good that they are trying out new sounds and doing what they love which is making music. I will probably always love Maroon 5 because of the meaning behind their lyrics, and the unique quality of their music. Overall I would say this is a great album, not like "Songs About Jane", but still pretty good. I recommend it to anyone who really likes music with creative lyrics, and amazing vocals.

Ariana Grande CD "My Everything" Review

Earlier this week I bought the CD “My Everything” by Ariana Grande. This is her 2nd album she has recorded and in my opinion is way better than her first. It became the number #1 album on iTunes in the first 2 minutes it was released, and is still number #1 now. I think the best songs that are on the album are, “Break Your Heart Right Back", "Love Me Harder", "One Last Time", and "Be My Baby.” All of these songs really capture her voice quality, and the lyrics are really well written.

In the song “Only 1,” she does some really difficult runs, which really shows her voice quality.  The other thing I really like is how the background beats don’t over power her voice, like most songs do today. I recommend this album to anyone looking for new music to listen to, or really likes a singer with truly a great voice.
